Social Entrepreneur; Retired Executive Vice President, Biogen Idec, Inc.
Since retiring from Biogen Idec, Inc, as an executive vice president in 2009, Connie’s primary interest is in social innovation and entrepreneurship.
During her 32-year corporate career, she held various general management positions at Biogen Idec, IDEC Pharmaceuticals and Wells Fargo Bank. In addition to chairing the Board of Governors of The San Diego Foundation, she now chairs the Board of Directors for Halozyme Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: HALO).
Connie has been an active volunteer and board member for a number of nonprofit organizations, including Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. From 1999 to 2002 she led GSUSA as national president/board chair; since 2014 she has served as one of the Deputy Board Chairs of the World Association, whose global membership spans 146 countries and is the largest voluntary organization for girls and women in the world. Locally, Connie is also an officer on the Balboa Park Conservancy Board and immediate past chair of the San Diego Grantmakers Board.
