Learn five ways the Regional Affiliate Program is growing vibrant neighborhoods across San Diego County:

  1. Leveraging Charitable Funds
Pooled philanthropy allows regional affiliates to increase impact in each community. Fifty percent of each member’s dues is combined to award grants annually. Instead of donating a small amount to just one organization, members are able to award larger grants that increase impact within their neighborhoods each year.

  2. Localizing Giving to Community-Specific Programs
Every dollar of membership dues remains in the community. Grantmaking dollars support nonprofits programs that address the most urgent needs of each neighborhood. Programs range from promoting youth education through robotics to supporting the food security needs of the homeless. Each affiliate identifies the greatest need in their community and every program impacts their local members.

  4. Establishing Local Endowment Funds
The additional 50 percent of each member’s dues builds strong, resilient neighborhoods by establishing permanent endowment funds to sustain efforts for the good of current and future generations.

  5. Networking With Like-Minded Donors in Your Community
With membership events throughout the year, the regional affiliate program allows members to share their passion for giving by establishing connections with community members, leaders and other philanthropists in their own backyard.

  6. Promoting Volunteerism
Members can volunteer to join one of several committees to become more involved with the regional affiliate. Committees include Events, Grants, Legacy and Membership. Additionally, through connections established with nonprofits during the grants process, new volunteer opportunities to support grantees help to enhance each community.

  7. Get Involved

Become a member of your respective regional affiliate with The San Diego Foundation and play an active role in your community’s growth and vibrancy.
