“We’re honored to have Leslie as part of our charitable giving team,” said Bob Kelly, President and CEO of The San Diego Foundation. “Her strong relationships built throughout the community as a financial service professional will serve The Foundation well as we work toward continuing to engage and enrich the San Diego community through philanthropy.”
As Associate Vice President of Finance at The Foundation, Mr. Ray supports the key finance and investment functions, audit, compliance, policy, best practices, reporting, and special projects. Jerry brings more than 30 years of finance experience serving large nonprofit organizations both as an executive and consultant, leading and managing financial strength and stability.

He also worked in finance leadership roles at two international development NGOs whose mission was to serve vulnerable populations in third-world locations around the world; and at the Hall of Champions, sports museum in Balboa Park.
“Jerry’s unique skill set and 30 years of finance experience bring trust and stability to the organization, and will serve our stakeholders well as we continue to lead charitable giving in the San Diego region.” said Kelly.

On August 9, 2022, we awarded $838,704 in Opening the Outdoors grants to 24 nonprofit organizations that offer equitable access to outdoor spaces in San Diego County.
“San Diego Foundation is proud to once again support its partners committed to increasing community-driven efforts to enhance accessible outdoor space, encourage youth to learn more through hands-on education and create the next generation of environmental stewards in the San Diego region,” said Christiana DeBenedict, SDF Director of Environment Initiatives.
This year’s grantees will help address these inequities and enhance access to the outdoors throughout San Diego County.
