SAN DIEGO (June 8, 2022) – San Diego Foundation announced today it has launched a new brand mark and website to better serve San Diego’s diverse community of nonprofits and donors.

“People, partners and community are the heart and soul of our work and our new logo reflects this,” said Mark Stuart, President and CEO of San Diego Foundation. “It also demonstrates our commitment to collaboration, inclusivity and the San Diego region.”

The new brand is the result of conversations with staff, Board of Governors members and donors. It also better reflects the San Diego Foundation Strategic Plan launched in July 2021 after two years of discussion and planning with donors, nonprofit partners, staff and board members.

The Strategic Plan includes a vision for just, equitable and resilient communities and focuses the Foundation’s work in four key pillars:

  1. Advancing Racial and Social Justice
  2. Fostering Equity of Opportunity
  3. Building Resilient Communities
  4. Delivering World-Class Philanthropy

“When an organization has a transformative change, it’s customary to reflect its new direction and mission in a new name and identity,” Stuart said. “Last year, when SDF adopted a new mission, vision and strategic plan, we realized that our 22-year-old brand no longer reflected our future direction.”

In addition to the new brand mark, San Diego Foundation also launched a completely revamped website at SDFoundation.org. The new website helps visitors better understand San Diego’s most pressing needs, how the Foundation’s strategic priorities address those needs, and the ways donors, foundations and philanthropists can partner with SDF to make a difference in San Diego County and beyond.

A regional advertising campaign is also being launched to bring awareness to the new logo and San Diego Foundation’s work to support nonprofits and people throughout San Diego County.

The new brand mark was developed by award-winning local design firm MiresBall, led by principal and creative director John Ball. The new website was designed by local digital marketing agency Fifty & Fifty, led by founder and creative director Javan Van Gronigen.
