The San Diego Foundation has pledged a gift of $200,000 to the San Diego Community College District’s (SDCCD) tuition-free San Diego Promise, a program which has allowed thousands of students who may not otherwise be able to afford college to pursue a degree.
A $500,000 grant to five community college districts in the region is ensuring that 1,400 students will be able to participate in online distance learning.
The San Diego Foundation today announced to date it has awarded more than $5.1 million in COVID-19 Community Response Fund grants to nonprofits supporting San Diegans in need, including $500,000 in food security and financial assistance for local hospitality workers who lost their jobs due to the coronavirus outbreak.
