Join us for the third annual San Diego Fundraising Conference presented by PNC Bank on Thursday, September 18, and Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

SDF Funding Opportunities

  • Betty Scalice Foundation 2025 Music Grant: Coastal Community Foundation at San Diego Foundation welcomes applications from nonprofit and school-based programs offering music in San Diego County. Preference is given to programs serving North County San Diego. Grant award amounts range from $2,000 to $8,000. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. PDT, Friday, August 22, 2025.
  • Safe & Stable Housing Fund 2025 Youth Grant: Coastal Community Foundation invites organizations to apply to the Safe and Stable Housing at SDF. This grant supports urgent needs of youth ages 13-26 struggling to remain housed (through homelessness prevention and/or diversion efforts) and have a positive impact on the community by addressing unique housing and other related issues faced by youth. Requests will be accepted between $10,000 and up to $40,000 for a 12- month grant cycle from date of grant award in October 2025.

Events & Development Opportunities

  • The HIVE, a Leichtag Foundation Initiative, holds in-person and virtual workshops for nonprofits. Workshop topics range from effective leadership to strategic approaches to media relations. Learn more about its professional development opportunities here.
  • Nonprofit Solutions holds several workshops that help nonprofit employees learn, connect and grow. In-person and virtual workshops are offered. Learn more about its upcoming events and workshops here.
  • CANDID Learning holds a series of free online workshops for nonprofit employees at all stages and experiences of their careers. You can search through training opportunities here.
  • San Diego State University offers a 6-week course on starting a nonprofit. The course is supplemented with useful checklists, worksheets, reading lists and field trips to a wide variety of online resources. The course is $147 and has various start dates.
  • The San Diego Public Library offers a wide range of free highly interactive and instructor-led online courses. Courses run for six weeks and new sessions begin every month. You must be a library card holder in good standing to enroll.
  • Nonprofit Learning Lab is a national nonprofit that trains leaders in the nonprofit sector and offers daily online nonprofit training on various subjects.
  • Nonprofit Ready offers hundreds of free professional development resources, including courses and certificates on fundraising, grant writing, starting a nonprofit, finance, engagement, marketing and human resources.
  • Listen4Good helps nonprofits gather and analyze feedback from program participants, volunteers, community, or staff. That data is helpful for fundraising, strategic decision-making, and advancing equity goals. Participating organizations receive access to: 1) 1:1 coaching support; 2) group learning; and 3) a core web application for participatory measurement that drives impact. Since 2016, Listen4Good has supported over 1000 organizations through their 18-month capacity-building program. Learn more by joining an informational session hosted by Listen4Good.

Other Funding Opportunities

  • The Center for Cultural Innovation is accepting applications for the CALI Catalyst Grant. This opportunity provides unrestricted grants of up to $7,500 to California changemakers who are creating tangible impact within the arts and culture sector by shifting power and influence to underrepresented voices. Deadline: Applications will be accepted from June 30, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. PDT through August 15, 2025, at 11:59 a.m. PDT. Notifications will be sent via Submittable on October 3, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. PDT.
  • The San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI) is excited to announce the release of its 2025 Mini-Grant Request for Applications! We’re offering funding to support short-term, community-driven projects that promote: Healthy food, Physical activity, Healthy people in healthy places, and Human milk + breastfeeding support. This year’s funding includes: $10,000 total to support small projects (requests up to $3,000), $30,000 total specifically for projects focused on human milk and breastfeeding, thanks to generous support from the Kaiser Hospital Foundation (requests up to $10,000). Deadline: Friday, August 22, 2025. Eligible applicants must be based in San Diego County. Project period: October 2025 – June 2026.
  • The Funders Network (TFN) is inviting applications for the Partners for Places Jobs and Inclusive Infrastructure Initiative. The Partners for Places Jobs and Inclusive Infrastructure Initiative aims to support communities with investments and technical expertise to effectively implement equitable infrastructure projects. This new pilot will be launched through the Partners for Places community-centered grantmaking program, an initiative of The Funders Network. Overview Session: July 30 from 2-3 p.m. ET.   • Catalyst of San Diego and Imperial Counties announces, with seed funding from Alliance Healthcare Foundation, the Avila Fund, The David C. Copley Foundation, Price Philanthropies Foundation, and additional support from our own reserves, the Sustained Support Fund. This fund provides timely, short-term, zero-interest, recoverable grants to nonprofits, fiscally sponsored organizations, tribal organizations, and tribal governments to help cover cash needs while awaiting payment of committed funding. The fund prioritizes those affected by federal policy and funding shifts since January 2025. Grants from this fund are recoverable (repayment due upon receipt of committed funds or within 90 days), zero interest (the recoverable amount is equal to the amount granted) and flexible in size (grant amounts will be determined based on need, repayment capacity, and available resources, up to $100,000).
  • The Waitt Foundation is accepting applications for their Rapid Ocean Conservation (ROC) Grants Program. ROC grants provide small grants with a quick turnaround time for solutions to emerging conservation issues. Deadline: Rolling.
  • The California Wellness Foundation is accepting Letters of Interest for their Advancing Wellness Grant Program. The foundation supports nonprofit organizations that are addressing urgent needs people are facing in their communities. Specifically, the focus is on low-income communities, people of color, youth, immigrants and residents of rural areas. Deadline: Ongoing.
  • The Richard and Jean Coyne Family Foundation is accepting inquiries from educational institutions and nonprofit trade organizations that help economically disadvantaged high school students develop portfolios to qualify for admission to art school and provide college scholarships for them to study graphic design, advertising, photography and illustration. Deadline: Ongoing.
  • U.S. Bank Foundation is accepting Letters of Interest for their Community Possible Grant Program. U.S. Bank Foundation supports organizations and programs that advance the following funding priorities:
    • WORK – Workforce Education and Economic Prosperity
    • HOME – Neighborhood Stability and Revitalization
    • PLAY – Artistic and Cultural Enrichment, Learning Through Play and Preserving, Protecting and Enhancing Outdoor Places to Play

  • The W.K. Kellogg Foundation accepts applications at any time from organizations whose projects or proposals align with their three areas of focused work: thriving children, working families, and equitable communities. Deadline: Rolling.
  • The Pollock-Krasner Foundation is accepting applications from artists for their Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant for individual artists. Pollock-Krasner grants have enabled artists to create new work, purchase needed materials, pay for studio rent and their personal expenses. Deadline: Rolling.
  • The Parker Foundation is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations that provide services that improve the lives of people throughout the San Diego region. Deadline: Rolling.
  • American Humane’s Second Chance grant offers public and private animal sheltering agencies and rescue groups financial assistance to help offset the costs of rescuing animals who are homeless or victims of human cruelty. Nonprofits that focus on animal rights and rescue are encouraged to submit proposals. Deadline: Ongoing.
