The San Diego Foundation Development & Stewardship Team is here to help you by delivering world-class philanthropy and service, and expertly responding to your needs.
In this Meet our Giving Team blog series, we’re interviewing each of our team members so you can learn more about the individuals – both professionally and personally – who are helping you give confidently to make the most social impact. In today’s post, meet Amanda Jean-Pierre, Donor Services Specialist.
I enjoy the opportunity to connect with other nonprofits in the community and work with an amazing, compassionate team of people to serve our region.
Helping donors reach their philanthropic goals is one of my favorite parts of the job. I have the opportunity to assist them with the various aspects of fund management and grant distribution.
After graduating college, I joined AmeriCorps and worked with two different nonprofit organizations during my two terms. I haven’t left the nonprofit space since.
A former colleague of mine worked at The Foundation for a while and said that she loved it. As soon as a position opened up I asked her to recommend me – and here we are!
Housing is so important. I believe that everyone deserves a safe place to rest, make a home and build generational wealth.
I love to read, so I pass the time with a good book. I like anything from fantasy to books about historical events.
Novo Restaurant has amazing cheese empanadas, and I also enjoy their kombucha.
I enjoy hiking or walking my “niece” – AKA my roommate’s dog.
I would meet Maya Angelou. I admire the way she lived her life; despite the many challenges she faced, she was still brave enough to share her art with the world.
I love going to Disney World!
It’s all about your mindset.
On August 9, 2022, we awarded $838,704 in Opening the Outdoors grants to 24 nonprofit organizations that offer equitable access to outdoor spaces in San Diego County.
“San Diego Foundation is proud to once again support its partners committed to increasing community-driven efforts to enhance accessible outdoor space, encourage youth to learn more through hands-on education and create the next generation of environmental stewards in the San Diego region,” said Christiana DeBenedict, SDF Director of Environment Initiatives.
This year’s grantees will help address these inequities and enhance access to the outdoors throughout San Diego County.
