Fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, #GivingTuesday is one of the most recognizable days that kick off the year-end charitable giving season.
Philanthropists from around the world are encouraged to support their favorite interests by making a donations, opening funds at community foundations or joining events in their community.
Today, please consider a donation to the Fund for the Future at The San Diego Foundation. This endowment fund will forever support our region’s unforeseen challenges and enable us to create and respond to opportunity thanks to your vision and leadership today.
Just last year, more than 700,000 people across 70 countries raised over $116 million on #GivingTuesday.
In 2016, philanthropic leaders are hoping to best that mark.

With more than 10,000 nonprofits in San Diego, there is no shortage of organizations to support this #GivingTuesday.
Whether you contribute to The San Diego Foundation Fund for the Future or give to a specific program supporting education, art, science & technology, the environment, civic engagement, or youth development, the most important thing is that you give back and join the long list of San Diegans who do the same.
According to the USD Caster Family Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic Research State of Nonprofits report, 51 percent of San Diego households gave monetary donations to a local nonprofit and 37 percent of households volunteered at a local organization last year.

On August 9, 2022, we awarded $838,704 in Opening the Outdoors grants to 24 nonprofit organizations that offer equitable access to outdoor spaces in San Diego County.
“San Diego Foundation is proud to once again support its partners committed to increasing community-driven efforts to enhance accessible outdoor space, encourage youth to learn more through hands-on education and create the next generation of environmental stewards in the San Diego region,” said Christiana DeBenedict, SDF Director of Environment Initiatives.
This year’s grantees will help address these inequities and enhance access to the outdoors throughout San Diego County.
