April 28, 2017 – San Diego, CA – Carlsbad Charitable Foundation (CCF), an affiliate of The San Diego Foundation, marked its 10th year of giving at its Annual Grant Awards Celebration on Wednesday, April 26 at the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Since 2008, the organization has granted more than $700,000 to 44 different programs improving the quality of life in Carlsbad. This year, CCF awarded $60,000 to Interfaith Community Services to support the new Interfaith Recovery and Wellness Center in Carlsbad.
“The Carlsbad Charitable Foundation is a testament to the commitment of local leaders and neighbors alike working together to improve the quality of life for everyone in the community,” highlighted Hollyce Phillips, founding member of the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation and board member at The San Diego Foundation. “For ten years, our members have combined forces to support positive change and growth in the region so that families today, as well as the next generation of Carlsbad residents, have a place they are proud to call home.”
The 2017 grantee, Interfaith Community Services, provides a wide range of programs designed to empower vulnerable communities and individuals to begin a pathway towards self-sufficiency. The $60,000 grant will enable the organization to hire a new full-time case manager to focus on triage, intervention and placement for substance-addicted individuals at the Recovery and Wellness Center.
“Throughout its 10-year history, the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation has invested in innovative programs and services for our Carlsbad neighbors in need,” commented Greg Anglea, Executive Director of Interfaith Community Services. “Their members have funded projects at Interfaith Community Services to organize faith communities around service and create an emergency support system for families in need. This most recent grant will connect low-income Carlsbad residents struggling with addiction and mental health issues to our new Recovery and Wellness Center, which will ultimately help local men and women rebuild their lives and move into permanent housing.”
Interfaith Community Services helps people in need to stabilize their lives through comprehensive programs, in partnership with faith communities and people of compassion. The Recovery and Wellness Center in Carlsbad was conceived with the vision that all individuals should have an opportunity to pursue wellness and recovery, and in turn, experience an improved quality of life regardless of their ability to pay. The Center is expected to open in the summer of 2017 and will provide integrated healthcare by utilizing evidence-based substance abuse and mental health interventions to address dual-diagnoses.
Through the Recovery and Wellness Center, Interfaith Community Services anticipates providing 1,225 vulnerable community members with a clear path towards achieving sobriety, health and self-sufficiency each year.
