June 5, 2023 – San Diego, CA – 4SRanch~Del Sur Community Foundation (4SCF), an affiliate of San Diego Foundation, marked its 16th year of giving by granting $26,100 to five nonprofits that demonstrate a strong mission to support the mental, academic and social-emotional learning and development of youth.

“We want to care for our youth in every way possible and provide them the necessary support and tools to make our region a more vitalized place to live, grow and play,” said 4S Ranch-Del Sur Community Foundation Board Chair Theresa Burke.

The 2023 grantees include:

  • Boys & Girls Club of Greater San Diego – $7,500 to support the Pathways to Academic and Creative Excellence after-school program for at least 100 members, ages 5 – 18, at the Mollenkopf Family Branch in 4S Ranch.
  • Sager Family Farm – $7,500 to support the instruction of 530 first-graders in 4S Ranch-Del Sur in a one hour long “Bee Brave” lesson that consists of bringing all parts of a working bee hive into the classroom.
  • Giving Network – $7,500 to support the participation of 4S Ranch-Del Sur community children in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by providing fun, hands-on engineering educational programs in robotics.
  • Poway Unified School District Running Clubs– $2,000 to support running clubs and running club sponsorships at four elementary schools in 4S Ranch and Del Sur, including Design39Campus, Del Sur, Monterey Ridge and Stone Ranch.
  • Burn Institute– $1,600 to implement the Fire Safe Kids curriculum and provide the fire and burn prevention materials to 500 or more students residing in the 4S Ranch-Del Sur Community.

4SCF is dedicated to improving the quality of life and meeting emerging needs in 4SRanch and Del Sur by increasing responsible and effective philanthropy; building a community endowment for the benefit of the region; providing funds annually to community organizations and causes; and giving the community a vehicle for legacy planning and gifts that will benefit 4S Ranch and Del Sur now and forever. Since 2008, 4SCF members have granted more than $360,000 to nonprofit organizations working in the community to grow a more vibrant region.
