Responding & Adapting
San Diego is a beautiful place to live, but our region faces multiple threats due to the impacts of a changing climate.
Since 2006, the Climate Initiative has supported organizations that build equitable climate resilience through research, education, community engagement and programs that benefit historically underserved communities and low-income, climate-vulnerable populations.
The Climate Initiative helps to:

Build Equitable Climate Resilience
Working with frontline communities that experience the most harmful effects of climate change — from stormwater pollution, industrial air pollution and heatwaves — ensures a healthier future for all

Promote Climate Action
Producing research and advocating on climate issues helps municipalities throughout our region plan and implement action that will ensure San Diego’s resilience against current and future climate change

Protect Biodiversity
Protecting San Diego’s biodiversity is more important than ever – we’re home to the greatest number of plant and animal species threatened with extinction anywhere in the United States
