Breaking Ground on Attainable Housing for San Diego’s Workforce
San Diego Foundation broke ground on the Louisiana Street property in October 2026, the first of four North Park and Normal Heights properties that will bring new attainable housing to San Diego. Together, these homes are built for the teachers, healthcare workers and service employees who keep San Diego running but are increasingly priced out of the neighborhoods they serve.Â
This groundbreaking also marks a milestone for how San Diego builds affordable housing: it’s the first project delivered through a new $100 million financing partnership with Bear Creek Fund Advisors, opening a faster, more flexible path to construction financing for future developments across the region.Â
