Lani Bautista Cabanilla

Director, Community Impact Operations

As Director of Community Impact Operations at the San Diego Foundation (SDF), Lani leads the development and implementation of operational strategies and systems that advance the Community Impact Division’s initiatives in alignment with SDF’s strategic vision.

Lani brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and project management across the education, design and arts sectors to her role. Prior to joining SDF in 2020, she spent over a decade at The New Children’s Museum, where she oversaw family programs, managed collaborations with artists and scientists, and organized community events.

She has served on the Advisory Board for the Balboa Park Cultural District, as a Board Member for Made in Paradise Hills and the Philippine American Society and Cultural Arts Troupe (PASACAT), and volunteered as a public art panelist throughout the county. Her community service contributions have been awarded the National Medal of Honor from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Inclusive Leadership in Action (ILIA) Award for Economy from RISE San Diego.

Lani holds a Bachelor of Arts from San Diego State University and an Associate of Arts from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. She was born and raised in San Diego.
