Heather Janssen is the Manager, Strategic Storytelling & Public Relations at San Diego Foundation, where she supports the organization’s communications efforts by shaping stories that highlight its mission, impact and priorities across the region. Her work blends public relations with thoughtful storytelling to help ensure clarity, consistency and engagement across platforms.

Heather collaborates with teams across the organization and external partners to support media outreach, develop content and elevate stories that reflect organizational values and community impact.

Prior to San Diego Foundation, Heather spent nearly a decade in local television news as an Emmy-nominated and Associated Press award-winning on-air journalist in Sacramento, Arizona and South Dakota markets. Her background in deadline-driven reporting continues to inform her approach to clear, accurate and audience-focused storytelling. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Outside of work, she’s usually found at the movie theater, hunting for hidden gems at local thrift and vintage shops or scouting out a new coffee spot with her partner.
