Assistant Vice President, Community Impact

Amenah Gulamhusein is the Assistant Vice President of Community Impact, where she leads strategies that mobilize philanthropic resources to advance equitable, community-driven solutions. In her role, Amenah oversees initiatives that align grantmaking, fundraising, and cross-sector partnerships with long-term systems change goals. She works closely with internal teams, donors, and community partners to ensure that investments are responsive to community needs and drive measurable, sustainable impact across the region.

With a career spanning philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, fundraising, public policy, and community organizing, Amenah brings a multidisciplinary perspective to advancing social change. She has led the design and implementation of large-scale grantmaking initiatives, cultivated major philanthropic investments, and supported organizations working at the intersection of equity, civic engagement, and community power. Her work consistently centers on strengthening nonprofit capacity, advancing inclusive funding practices, and connecting grassroots leadership with institutional resources.

Throughout her career, Amenah has supported organizations navigating growth, complexity, and shifting community needs. She has built and managed fundraising strategies, guided collaborative funding efforts, and partnered with community leaders to address systemic barriers affecting historically under-resourced populations. Her approach emphasizes shared leadership, trust-based philanthropy, and the belief that durable change is achieved when communities are resourced to lead their own solutions.

Amenah holds a Master of Public Administration from Carleton University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta. She brings a strategic, values-driven approach to her work and is known for her ability to build authentic relationships, translate community priorities into institutional action, and influence systems in ways that expand opportunity and strengthen collective impact.
