April 7, 2014 – San Diego, CA – The San Diego Foundation has appointed Kari Breitweiser as Director of Charitable Giving, a new Center for Charitable Giving position.

In her new role, Breitweiser will work closely with the professional advisor community and charitably minded individuals to establish new family foundations, donor advised funds, endowments, legacy funds, and planned gifts.

Breitweiser previously held a similar position at The Foundation for five years before she departed to work for her family’s real estate business. Prior to that, she served as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, where she facilitated investment and financial planning for high net-worth individuals.

“We are pleased and excited to welcome Kari back to The Foundation family, as she was and will continue to be an extremely valuable asset to our organization,” said Chief Giving Officer Adrienne Vargas. “She possesses an outstanding combination of business experience, financial planning expertise, and demonstrated success in the philanthropic community, which will further strengthen The Foundation’s impact in the community.”

Kari graduated from the University of the Pacific and holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business Administration.
