December 6, 2013 – Carlsbad, CA – The Carlsbad Charitable Foundation (CCF) invites San Diego County nonprofits to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to express interest in applying for CCF 2014-2015 grants on the subject of community engagement.
The CCF wants to advance the community aspect of living in Carlsbad and is making a call to action to neighborhoods, nonprofits and community leaders to come up with creative solutions that engage people in addressing Carlsbad issues. During this cycle, the Charitable Foundation will make grants that help to catalyze greater leadership, engagement and voluntarism within our community.
The Letter of Intent (LOI) is the first step in a two-step application process which enables the allocation of approximately $100,000 in funding for Carlsbad-centered projects. The minimum grant award will be $7,500. The CCF will evaluate all LOI submittals and qualify those that meet the program and eligibility criteria. Organizations that are approved through the LOI process will be invited to submit a full application.
“This year, we’re teaming up with eight of the other affiliate foundations to focus our grantmaking efforts on civic engagement and community involvement,” said Pam Valinet, chair of the foundation. “It is a great opportunity to contribute to county-wide impact while continuing to support the unique needs of the Carlsbad community.”

On August 9, 2022, we awarded $838,704 in Opening the Outdoors grants to 24 nonprofit organizations that offer equitable access to outdoor spaces in San Diego County.
“San Diego Foundation is proud to once again support its partners committed to increasing community-driven efforts to enhance accessible outdoor space, encourage youth to learn more through hands-on education and create the next generation of environmental stewards in the San Diego region,” said Christiana DeBenedict, SDF Director of Environment Initiatives.
This year’s grantees will help address these inequities and enhance access to the outdoors throughout San Diego County.
