WHY:

As San Diego’s regional community foundation, SDF plays a unique role in responding to the evolving needs of our local students. The SDF Community Scholarship Program provides opportunities for high school seniors, current college students and adults re-entering college to achieve their higher education dreams of attending college, trade school or professional/graduate programs.

For the 2025-2026 season, the Community Scholarship Program granted 1,678 awards from 160 scholarship funds to 1,371 recipients for a total of $5,539,213 — exceeding last year’s total by more than $500,000. Since its inception in 1997, the program has awarded $59.5 million to more than 15,400 students. SDF is the largest non-university scholarship funder in San Diego County.
