September 11, 2025 – San Diego, CA – As federal funding cuts put essential community programs at risk, San Diego Foundation is hosting the San Diego Fundraising Conference presented by PNC Bank on September 18–19 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. The nation’s largest regional gathering of fundraising professionals will bring together leading experts to share strategies that help nonprofits sustain critical services like food and housing for families in San Diego and across the country.

The third annual conference, which is the largest regional fundraising conference, is expected to attract more than 900 attendees from more than 450 nonprofits. The event will be held as a spring 2025 report from the Policy & Innovation Center (PIC) warns of a potential “triple whammy” for nonprofits: economic recession increasing community needs while shrinking resources, significant federal budget cuts in key service areas, and attacks on nonprofit missions and funding eligibility.

“This year’s conference comes at a decisive moment for nonprofits here and nationwide,” said Mark Stuart, president and CEO of San Diego Foundation. “Federal funding cuts are poised to devastate organizations providing essential services such as food, healthcare and housing for working families. We’re bringing together the nation’s top fundraising experts and development professionals, because learning how to diversify funding sources and build financial resilience is now a survival imperative.”

Conference Highlights:

  • Insights from Priya Parker, who is a facilitator, strategic advisor, acclaimed author of “The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters,” and executive producer and host of the New York Times podcast Together Apart
  • Perspectives from Nathan Chappell, bestselling author of “The Generosity Crisis” and Chief AI Officer at Virtuous Software
  • Strategic partnership with Fundraising Academy at National University, which is the premier educational hub that helps build relationship-driven fundraising skills with its Cause Selling approach
  • Fundraising expert-led sessions focused on sustaining and growing revenue during challenging periods
  • Topics such as how philanthropy can partner with local governments to provide bridge funding and fill gaps in essential social services
