Spring is here!

Spring is here and our Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation (RBCF) board members are already planning for our community 2024 Thanksgiving luncheon.  Once again, we will be having our luncheon one week prior to Thanksgiving at the RB Inn. Mark your calendars and save the date, Thursday, November 21!

It was great fun seeing so many people at our Leap Day Social on February 29 at Oasis!

Oasis President and CEO Simona Valanciute welcomed and hosted our members. We are grateful for their wonderful hospitality. David Beevers, Digital Divide program manager, shared the impact of the recent Oasis grant awarded by RBCF.

“With the support of the Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation, San Diego Oasis was able to provide new tablets, training, internet, and free online classes to 1,100 low-income, isolated older adults who did not have any technology at home. San Diego Oasis was able to make great strides at bridging the widening, harmful gap between older adults/seniors and technology usage, connecting them to interpersonal relationships, telehealth, grocery deliveries, etc. More than 90% of participants achieved one or more of the following outcomes, as evidenced by self-report questionnaires: increased technological self-efficacy; increase in confidence and comfort in regard to technology; decreased loneliness and social isolation; decreased number of victims of fraud/financial scams; increased family engagement; increased device usage; interest in attending additional training.”

Thanks to all of you who attended!

“The reason I support the RB Community Foundation is because, as a member of the RB Historical Society Board of Directors, I can affirm that RB Foundation money goes right back into local nonprofits. Foundation grants for exhibits, archives and technology have all elevated the museum as a professional and authentic organization. Our guest book is always filled with positive comments from our visitors. As a docent, I have received admiring comments from larger museum employees and local museum volunteers. Without the support of the RB Foundation, we would not have the upgrades, professional standards and visitor-friendly exhibits that set us apart. I am proud to be a member of the foundation and to be able to contribute to the Rancho Bernardo community.” -Raenell Hooten, Rancho Bernardo Historical Society
