Greetings everyone,

Happy Spring!

We look forward to the next few months as we finalize our grant awards and celebrate our collective impact and the organizations serving our community. The Oceanside Community Foundation (OCF) annual grants celebration will be held on Tuesday, June 6th, at the Veterans Association of North County | VANC from 5:30-7:30 pm. If you haven’t already done so, RSVP for the event here.

It’s also a time to reflect on the commitment and support of all our members. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated!

The OCF Spring Mixer event at The Oceanside Broiler last month was filled with great energy, conversation, and fun. It was great to see some of our new members in person, including Jonathan Borrego, highlighted below. Thank you so much to all of those who attended.

Let’s continue to share our mission and connect with passion as we aim to drive membership growth and increase our impact!

Grantee Spotlight: Oceanside Theatre Company

OTC Youth Outreach Show

Oceanside Theatre Company (OTC) was the grateful recipient of a $5,000 grant in support of the OTC E.M.B.R.A.C.E the Arts Program.

OCF’s support enabled OTC to continue enriching the quality of life for thousands of North San Diego County residents through the following activities:

  • Mainstage Productions: OTC produced four fully staged, professionally acted, large-scale shows in the Historic Brooks Theatre.
  • Youth Programs: The Youth Outreach Program, in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside, offered a free 9-week musical theatre education program for at-risk youth. OTC also offered a four-week tuition-based Summer Youth Theater Academy for ages 7-17 to learn performance, design, or technical theater skills.
  • OTC Music Series: The OTC Music Series showcased local and national musical artists and offered quality concert entertainment to North San Diego County residents and tourists.
  • OTC Brooks Theater Art Gallery: The OTC Brooks Art Gallery offered exhibitions of local artists to coincide with OTC productions, concerts, and other Main Stage events. The Gallery also participated as a venue in the Oceanside First Friday Art Walk.

This grant enabled OTC to serve 5,586 individuals through our programming. This figure includes 1,963 individuals who attended OTC’s MainStage Production performances, which showcased the talents of local artists and brought the community together through the arts, and over 70 youth through our Youth Outreach Program in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside and our Summer Youth Theatre Academy.

“The Oceanside Community Foundation’s support was essential in enabling OTC to offer live performances and events that brought our community together and to provide arts education to students who had experienced months of isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the Foundation’s generous contribution, OTC was able to continue fulfilling our mission of promoting the arts and making them accessible to all members of the community, even during challenging times. Your generosity helped OTC meet the needs of our community and provide a much-needed source of inspiration and joy to audiences and students alike.” -Alex Goodman, Managing Director Oceanside Theatre Company
