With so many exciting events and opportunities happening with the Escondido Charitable Foundation (ECF), we want to make sure you don’t miss out.
A number of you were able to attend the recent reception and Tina Guo concert in April at the California Center for the Arts. For those who weren’t there, this was a wonderful evening that provided an opportunity for us to connect with friends at the reception and enjoy a fabulous concert. If you didn’t get the chance to attend, don’t worry. We will have additional socials planned during 2018, so keep an eye out for email invitations soon!
On June 13, ECF members are invited to our “MVP” event at the Vineyard in Escondido at 925 San Pasqual Road. This will be the opportunity for each of you to Mingle, Vote and Participate in our annual ballot presentation. Not only will you learn about the organizations on the ballot but you will be able to socialize and engage with your friends, neighbors and fellow ECF members. I know our grants committee has been hard at work visiting the nonprofit organizations to give us a greater understanding of the projects we will vote on. We look forward to seeing you!
I also want to remind everyone to save the date for September 27 at Orfila Vineyards & Winery where we’ll announce this year’s grantees and celebrate the impact of community philanthropy. 2018 is flying by and before you know it, September will be here!
We can’t do the work of the Foundation without your extraordinary support and membership donations. Every year, we continue to grow our impact in the community thanks to your generosity.
This year, we are hoping to increase that impact and encourage more of our friends and neighbors to join. Thanks to the generous support from an anonymous donor, we currently have a one-time opportunity for new members. Any new members that join for a fully tax deductible $500 will receive a match of $500 to receive the full ECF membership benefits at $1,000. And the Matt McLaughlin Fund at The San Diego Foundation also supports and grows these funds for grantmaking.
That means if you know of someone who has expressed interest in joining, now is the time to share this great news! Please encourage them to become a member this year by visiting our website, or contacting Trudy Armstrong at trudy@sdfoundation.org or 619-764-8602.

On August 9, 2022, we awarded $838,704 in Opening the Outdoors grants to 24 nonprofit organizations that offer equitable access to outdoor spaces in San Diego County.
“San Diego Foundation is proud to once again support its partners committed to increasing community-driven efforts to enhance accessible outdoor space, encourage youth to learn more through hands-on education and create the next generation of environmental stewards in the San Diego region,” said Christiana DeBenedict, SDF Director of Environment Initiatives.
This year’s grantees will help address these inequities and enhance access to the outdoors throughout San Diego County.
