March 26, 2014 – San Diego, CA – The San Diego Business Journal named Leslie Levinson, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of The San Diego Foundation, 2014 Chief Financial Officer of the Year in the category of small non-profits.
Levinson, who joined The Foundation in 2013, oversees many operational areas of the organization, including financial, human resources, facilities, and administrative and information technology. She also serves as the organizational ambassador and liaison to external constituencies on finance-related issues. Leslie works with the Board of Governors Finance and Audit Committees, senior staff, auditors, and professional volunteers to establish, administer and monitor internal controls, operating budgets, cash controls, information technology systems and annual audits.

Prior to joining The Foundation, Leslie served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Pierce Education Properties, L.P. overseeing all aspects of the company. Leslie was also CFO of the San Diego State University (SDSU) Research Foundation, the California State University system’s largest auxiliary organization.
Leslie is a member and past president of the California Ballet Association Board of Directors and serves on its Executive Committee; a member of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee Chair for Walden Family Services; and sits on the Chancellor’s Community Advisory Board for UCSD.

On August 9, 2022, we awarded $838,704 in Opening the Outdoors grants to 24 nonprofit organizations that offer equitable access to outdoor spaces in San Diego County.
“San Diego Foundation is proud to once again support its partners committed to increasing community-driven efforts to enhance accessible outdoor space, encourage youth to learn more through hands-on education and create the next generation of environmental stewards in the San Diego region,” said Christiana DeBenedict, SDF Director of Environment Initiatives.
