May 18, 2023 – San Diego, CA – On Thursday, May 18, Chula Vista Community Foundation (CVCF), an affiliate of San Diego Foundation, held its Annual Grant Awards Celebration and awarded $62,966 to three local nonprofits that provide programs that address the needs of children and families.

“Through this funding, we are able to work with local organizations closest to our youth and families to ensure that, as a community, we’re uplifting the mental health and physical well-being of our families and children,” said Lisa Johnson, CVCF board chair.

Since 2011, CVCF has granted more than $680,000 to over 40 nonprofit programs that strengthen the quality of life for all who live, work and enjoy Chula Vista.

The list of 2023-2024 grantees includes:

  • $22,966 to SDSU Research Foundation for its Conmigo: Better Health Together program with a curriculum that builds connections among families and empowers communities to access community resources.
  • $20,000 to Boys to Men Mentoring Network for its BTM Group Mentoring Program that addresses male teens’ mental health, wellness and physical well-being needs.
  • $20,000 to Tariq Khamisa Foundation for its Restorative Workshop Curriculum, a social-emotional series delivered in grades 6 – 9 that improves outcomes for vulnerable youth by diverting them toward positive pro-social activities and associations.
