Supporting Families From the Start

A family’s well-being begins before birth, with a mother’s health and the care she receives through pregnancy and beyond.

It grows through the early years that follow — how a child learns, feels safe and is cared for — and it depends on the financial stability that lets a family breathe.

Our programs meet families at each of these moments, together.

Our Strategies

Maternal Health

Every child deserves a healthy start, beginning before birth. We invest in maternal and infant health support that helps mothers and babies get the care they need.

Early Childhood

The first five years shape a lifetime of learning and well-being. We fund early literacy, developmental and mental health screenings, and school-readiness support for young children.

Care Workforce

Quality care depends on quality caregivers. We invest in training and supporting the early-education and childcare workforce that families rely on every day.

Give Close to Home

San Diego is the home we all share. And when our neighbors need us, we show up. A gift to San Diego Foundation is how we take care of each other – one family, one neighborhood, one gift at a time.
