Investing in our Communities
San Diego Foundation and the Central Black San Diego Chamber of Commerce co-founded the Leon Williams Fund to reduce disparities in health, education and economic opportunity for San Diegans furthest from opportunity.
The fund, led by an advisory council of civic, nonprofit and government leaders, directs grantmaking into four key pillars to impact economic prosperity.
Four Pillars of Grantmaking
Seeding the Fund
Leon Williams Fund was seeded in 2020 with $1 million from the San Diego Foundation, $250,000 from San Diego Gas & Electric, $75,000 from Wells Fargo Bank and $25,000 from Cox Communications and complements the work of government agencies and organizations by investing in initiatives that disrupt and innovate the institutional drivers of inequity in San Diego.
