Encinitas Fund: Building Local Philanthropy for Encinitas
The mission of the Encinitas Fund, established by local community residents and Coastal Community Foundation in 2018, is to address local needs and to encourage philanthropy for the benefit of Encinitas and its communities. Solana Beach Fund: Building Local Philanthropy for Solana Beach
Founded by local community residents and Coastal Community Foundation in 2014, the Solana Beach Fund’s mission is to address and fund community needs and to build local philanthropy through ongoing and legacy gifts. The funds nonprofit programs and community projects for the benefit of Solana Beach, its residents, businesses and friends. The Solana Beach members’ founding principal is that in a Thriving Community that supports nonprofits, neighborhoods and families, this ensures a vibrant culture.
Pictured left: The St. James – St. Leo Dental Clinic provides urgent and emergency dental services to any individuals who are in most need and lack access to essential dental services, whether it be due to a lack of insurance, lack of income, or any other barriers preventing them from obtaining care. The scope of the dental services provided are considered urgent and emergency based with the intention to alleviate pain, loss of time from work, and eliminate potential life-threatening dental infections.
St. James – St. Leo Dental Clinic
The Solana Beach Fund recently provided a new dentistry chair at the volunteer Dental Clinic at St. James-St. Leo Medical Program. This new state of the art chair allows hundreds of patience to receive vital and free dental care from local volunteer dentists in comfort.
Community Resource Center
With growing concern over the displacement of residents in the Solana Highlands Apartments, the Solana Beach Fund awarded the Community Resource Center a major grant to provide emergency funds to 41 economically-vulnerable Solana Beach residents, encompassing 12 households including 17 children. The impact was tangible – providing critical assistance such as deposit and rental support, utility assistance and relocation help.
Hand to Hand: Women Supporting Women & Girls
Hand to Hand was founded 2008 by 19 local women who wanted to make a difference in the community for women and girls through their joint philanthropy. Today, most of these women continue to be members of a growing team whose mission is to grant funds to local nonprofit organizations that empower positive change and economic self-sufficiency in the lives of women and girls in San Diego County.
Grant funds are made possible through membership donations. By investing $500, you become a voting member and you will be able to help select the grant recipients or you can participate as a “Friend” of Hand to Hand and your donation at any level provides additional funding for grants. Hand to Hand 2025 Grant
Hand to Hand invites nonprofit organizations to submit project proposals that promote economic self-sufficiency and positive change in the lives of women and girls. Proposals can request from $5,000 up to $15,000 for projects achievable within a 12-month time frame. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. PDT, Monday, July 15, 2025.
