For more than 41 years, The San Diego Foundation has been committed to advancing a vibrant quality of life for all San Diegans. Our dedication to the community is what sets us apart. And in turn, the support of the community is what makes us effective.
That is why it’s critical for us to always keep our fingers on the pulse of regional needs.
Seven years ago, The San Diego Foundation set out on a massive effort to study the collective hopes, values and needs of the region.
The study, Our Greater San Diego Vision, was created out of a desire to capture the community’s vision for the future of the region. More than 30,000 people were surveyed to ensure the outcome would truly be the people’s vision and it would speak to what San Diegans care about the most.
The results then shaped what guides the purpose of The San Diego Foundation – the WELL framework – Work, Enjoy, Live and Learn. Today, the WELL framework manifests itself in every program, event and partnership.
From building everyone up to create a stronger economy, to providing more access to San Diego’s rich natural environment, community is at the heart of everything we do.
We also recognize that our region continues to evolve and we must be prepared to support the needs of today, and those of the future. Which is why we continue to solicit your opinions.
Earlier this year, we asked you what your resolutions were for 2017.
The reason we did so was to learn more about what’s most important to the community as we begin the new year. Many thanks for your responses. From them, we created this word cloud.
We are pleased to learn that many of the outcomes from Our Greater San Diego Vision ring true even now. You reminded us that education remains a core value. And, becoming more civically engaged through volunteerism is a critical philanthropic component. Good health is important as is a commitment to our wondrous outdoors which contributes to overall well-being.
The resolutions you shared confirms that our partnerships throughout the region are aligned with community interest. After all, we are your community foundation. Together we can ensure that San Diego region remains vibrant now and into the future.
For all San Diegans, community is at the heart of what we do.
