Our Purpose
Our mission at the La Jolla Community Foundation is to encourage civic engagement and pride through local philanthropy. Through our affiliation with The San Diego Foundation, we’re committed to increasing responsible and effective philanthropy in La Jolla.
Our purpose is to foster a sense of community and connection among La Jollans; enrich the environmental, social and cultural experience of La Jolla by creating public spaces to bring people together; enhance the aesthetic character of the community through investment in a variety of public art forms; and provide La Jolla community members a vehicle for legacy planning and gifts and encourage the creation of special project funds that will benefit La Jolla, now and forever.
Enhance La Jolla Village Streetscape Plan
The board of the La Jolla Community Foundation continues to actively seek funding for the La Jolla Village Streetscape project.
Comparable to piazzas throughout Europe, the proposed Promenade overlooking Cove Park will be transformative for the La Jolla community. Planners say the pedestrian-only plaza will serve as an inviting, appealing public space where community members and visitors can enjoy the outdoors and views of the La Jolla shoreline. Two-way traffic will be directed to The Dip and diagonal spaces on the south side of lower Girard Avenue will be designed to accommodate parking.
Your support is critical to this revitalization of our community. The Streetscape project will contribute significantly to our public realm, which helps define our community’s aesthetic quality, identity, economic activity, health, and social cohesion.
