RECORD-BREAKING YEAR MARKED BY THE SAN DIEGO FOUNDATION
Despite Adverse Economic Climate, Grantmaking, Contributions and Volunteer Involvement Reach New Highs

July 23, 2008, San Diego, Calif. — The San Diego Foundation held its 33rd annual meeting last night on the U.S.S Midway Museum. The Foundation announced historic accomplishments over the past fiscal year to more than 600 donors, volunteers, nonprofit organizations and Foundation employees that were in attendance.

The Foundation was able to grant out more than $62 million this past year – that’s more than a million dollars a week – with another $5 million already granted since July 1, 2008. Therefore, The Foundation has surpassed $600 million granted since inception. These grant funds provide much needed support to nonprofit organizations throughout the San Diego region that carry out missions spanning the full spectrum of charitable causes.

GWEN STEFANI ATTENDS THE SAN DIEGO FOUNDATION’S 2008 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY

May 19, 2008, San Diego, Calif. — The San Diego Foundation, which administers the largest non-university-based scholarship program in San Diego County, held its 10th annual Scholarships Awards Ceremony on May 17, 2008, at the University of San Diego’s Shiley Theatre for students, parents, school personnel and scholarship donors.

Over the past 10 years, The San Diego Foundation has witnessed steady growth in its scholarship funds. The Foundation offers a wide variety of scholarships, and this year alone more than 500 students received $2.5 million dollars in financial assistance.

OCEANSIDE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION HOSTS MEET AND GREET FOR OCEANSIDE RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES

March 20, 2008 -- Oceanside – Surrounding a night of introductions and information, the Oceanside Charitable Foundation (OCF), an affiliate of The San Diego Foundation, hosted a meet and greet for local community leaders, businesses and nonprofits who wanted to find out more about the Oceanside Charitable Foundation and what they are doing to improve life for Oceanside residents and nonprofits through grantmaking and membership. RANCHO BERNARDO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS AFTER-THE-FIRES GRANTS TO HELP RANCHO BERNARDO
Initial Grants Total $65,750 to Support Critical Areas of Need

March 18 , 2008 -- In the aftermath of the November 2007 Witch Creek Fire, The Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation brought together community and business leaders to assess the needs of the Rancho Bernardo community.  Out of this meeting, RB United was formed and now serves as a coalition dedicated to meeting the needs of fire survivors within and around Rancho Bernardo. While the fires were still impacting the community, the RB Community Foundation Board requested that The San Diego Foundation Regional Disaster Fund Board create an After-the-Fires fund specifically for Rancho Bernardo.  To date, people from all over the country contributed approximately $40,000 to the Rancho Bernardo After-the-Fires Fund. HELP IS ON THE WAY FOR LOCAL TEACHERS
The San Diego Foundation Offers Over $60,000 in Assistance with Teachers’ Fund

March 10 , 2008 -- The San Diego Foundation announced today the launch of the 2008-2009 San Diego Teachers’ Fund program. In light of looming cuts to the state’s education budget, the assistance that the Teachers’ Fund program offers resource-strapped teachers is a welcome relief. Though few would dispute the importance of providing our children with the highest quality of education, school funding is still in jeopardy. Year-after-year teachers reach deep into their own pockets to provide students with the resources they need to succeed. Read the News Release

SAN DIEGO ARTS SCENE GETS BOOST FROM RENEWED PHILANTHROPIC COMMITMENT
Funds Part of Statewide Effort to Increase Investment in the Arts; Grants to The San Diego Foundation Total $950,000

March 6 , 2008 -- The James Irvine Foundation today announced nearly $3.2 million in grants to eight California community foundations that will support regional arts efforts as part of its Communities Advancing the Arts (CAA) initiative. The San Diego Foundation (TSDF) will receive $450,000 to support local efforts to raise the visibility of and increase donor involvement in the arts. Read the News Release

THE 4S RANCH~DEL SUR COMMUNITY FOUNDATION RELEASES 2008 GUIDELINES FOR FIRST YEAR OF GRANTMAKING

January 29 , 2008 -- As the 4S Ranch~Del Sur Community Foundation continues its remarkable growth, its impact is resonating throughout the community.  With the release of its 2008 grant guidelines, the Foundation will focus on youth education and or youth services in the 4S Ranch, Del Sur and the surrounding communities.

The 4S Ranch~Del Sur Community Foundation is in its first year of grant making. Each year the chosen grants focus area will change. In the current cycle, the 4S Ranch~Del Sur Community Foundation will only accept proposals in the field of youth education and or youth services.
