The Funding Information Center
The
San Diego Foundation’s Funding Information Center (FIC) is
a self-service library that contains comprehensive information on
all areas of philanthropy. It provides resources on corporate and
foundation funding, proposal writing, fundraising, topical research,
organizational management, and other issues relevant to nonprofit
organizations.
The
FIC, referred to as a Cooperating Collection, is part of a network
of national and regional reference libraries established by The
Foundation Center in New York. Patrons have free access to specialized
information on foundations, available through publications, periodicals,
research documents, and databases.
- FCSEARCH, The Foundation Center’s fully-searchable database
gives unparalleled access to over 76,000 foundations and their
associated grants
- The San Diego County Directory of Foundations Online database,
featuring approximately 540 local grant-making organizations
- Foundation Grants to Individuals, Online featuring over 6,000
foundation funding sources for individuals in education, research,
arts and culture, and special needs
- Foundation Directories of national guides by field of interest
- Fund-raising guides to proposal writing, grant-seeking on the
web, and winning proposals
- Directories on a variety of scholarship opportunities
- Facts and figures on private and community foundations growth
and their giving
The FIC is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays until 7:00 p.m. Assistance is
provided on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Wednesdays
from 11:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Appointments are not necessary.
The FIC is closed on public holidays.

Diego County Directory of Foundations
The San Diego Foundation’s Online
Directory contains information on approximately 540 grant-making
organizations that support nonprofit programs in San Diego County.
The Online
Directory is available for an annual fee of $200. Subscribers
have unlimited access to the most inclusive database of funders.
Data is updated monthly to provide the most current information.
Special features include: - Easy-to-use searchable database
- San Diego’s 25 largest foundations
- Out-of town foundations with a San Diego focus
- San Diego foundations that support their own programs
- Funder profiles with direct links to their 990-PF’s and
websites when available
- RFP section with appropriate, recent requests for proposals
WORKSHOP SERIES
FOR 2007: Tuesdays at The Foundation
The San Diego Foundation is excited to offer a workshop
series in cooperation with the Foundation Center in New
York. In 2005, we are started Tuesdays
at The Foundation, where once a month, nonprofits are invited
to come to The Foundation to learn about the basics of nonprofit
management. Each workshop is limited to 20 participants. For more
