The Funding Information Center

The San Diego Foundation’s Funding Information Center (FIC) is a self-service library that contains comprehensive information on all areas of philanthropy. It provides resources on corporate and foundation funding, proposal writing, fundraising, topical research, organizational management, and other issues relevant to nonprofit organizations.

The FIC, referred to as a Cooperating Collection, is part of a network of national and regional reference libraries established by The Foundation Center in New York. Patrons have free access to specialized information on foundations, available through publications, periodicals, research documents, and databases.

  • FCSEARCH, The Foundation Center’s fully-searchable database gives unparalleled access to over 76,000 foundations and their associated grants
  • The San Diego County Directory of Foundations Online database, featuring approximately 540 local grant-making organizations
  • Foundation Grants to Individuals, Online featuring over 6,000 foundation funding sources for individuals in education, research, arts and culture, and special needs
  • Foundation Directories of national guides by field of interest
  • Fund-raising guides to proposal writing, grant-seeking on the web, and winning proposals
  • Directories on a variety of scholarship opportunities
  • Facts and figures on private and community foundations growth and their giving
