Philanthropic Giving:
Helping the Donor and the Community
in this Economic Climate |
 |
Virtually everyone is touched by these difficult economic times. We face a time when we may see neighbors lose their jobs, their homes, and steady work. As we all deal with the mental and emotional implications of this economic crisis, there is a growing need for support. |
We will look to the arts to find solace in our favorite San Diego venue. We will take our children to the zoo, the beaches and the park to remind them about the good things in San Diego. We will rely on schools to teach our children so that they can grow into responsible adults, able to address the long-term impact of this economy. Yet all of these are threatened. After-the-Fires Update
|
 |
In October 2007, Southern California experienced twenty major wildfires; four of the most destructive fires occurred within San Diego County and triggered the largest fire evacuation in our nation’s history.
|
In all, more than 575 square miles were scorched, over 1,600 residential and commercial structures were destroyed, and more than 2,000 households were directly impacted.
In response, the Board of Directors of the San Diego Regional Disaster Fund adopted a grant making strategy that identifies and validates community needs and supports them through the issuance of grant funds or partner agency referrals. Click here for full story. |

Caring for the Common Good

If you are ready to donate but are unsure where your money should go, consider a donation to the Fund for Common Good, which utilizes our expertise to grant dollars in ways that will be most beneficial to the community. How Nonprofits Make Planned Giving
Work for Them
It can feel like a huge endeavor, but the benefits of planned giving make it all worth it. Many of our Endow Partners are experiencing notable success with planned giving efforts. Numerous organizations have launched planned giving societies, and many have communication programs in hand to promote bequests and other planned giving strategies. For more information click here. |
