The Science & Technology Working Group (STWG) is composed of community experts in science, technology and education. Our mission is to enhance science and technology in San Diego by funding innovative research, emerging scientists, science education and access to technology.
Our comprehensive approach to developing science talent is designed to make an enduring investment in the human capital of our region. Our programs develop the pipeline of talent in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) while supporting individuals along each leg of their educational journey. Our initiatives include:

What Can You Do To Help?
- Join our initiative efforts.
Each initiative identifies our regions most critical needs through evidence based initiative development. Specific challenges and opportunities are called out for individual and/or group involvement whether in time, talent or treasure. See our initiative web pages for specific initiative information in K–12 science & math education, STEM scholarships, or the Research Awards for early career scientists.
Identify your support is directed to the Science & Technology program area, and your gift will provide general support for the efforts listed above.
- Make a lasting gift to the Science & Technology Fund for the Common Good.
An endowment or non–endowment choice can be made. Endowments provide enduring funding for needs of our region.
- Create your own fund for Science & Technology.
Open a non–endowment fund for immediate grantmaking or an endowment to extend the impact of your gift to future generations. You can decide the name of your fund and the organizations or causes it will support or designate broad areas of support and ask the STWG to provide the analysis for specific grantmaking.
- Endow the Sciences
Give to the Science & Technology Program Fund allowing our work to continue to better serve the most critical needs of our region while connecting people to causes that matter. Endow the Sciences, an evolution of the Endow San Diego movement, builds community awareness while inclining donors to choose endowment as a way to sustain organizations, programs, and causes about which they care deeply. Endow the Sciences provides an enduring well of support for effective programs and approaches that foster science and technology talent in our region. There is also a non-endowment program fund option that is an annual vehicle whereby investors can also choose to support the immediate work of the STWG.
