PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Build the Environment and Arts & Culture non-endowments to $3.5 million each and endowment funds to $3 million each over the next three years.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Identify and engage donors to support The San Diego Foundation’s Environment and Arts & Culture endowments and raise the leadership profile of The San Diego Foundation in the regional arena by performing the following tasks:

  • Develop and implement a focused fundraising and marketing campaign to solicit donors to build the Environment and Arts & Culture funding.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications department to develop and implement a media relations strategy to raise public profile of the Environment and Arts & Culture programs.
  • Collaborate with the Fund Services department to create and implement a stewardship plan for existing donors to the Arts, Environment and the Friends of the Foundation.
  • Support the Environment and Arts & Culture programs for all cultivation events, tradeshows and meetings.
  • Practice moves management; list maintenance.
  • Track and report results.
  • Write and coordinate marketing collateral materials for the Environment and Arts & Culture programs including advertisements, promotional flyers, invitations, email communications, PowerPoint presentations, event displays and website content.
  • Produce all projects on time and on budget.
  • Provide quality customer service; effectively and efficiently respond to all inquiries from all Foundation constituencies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five years of donor relations and fundraising experience is essential, preferably at a non-profit organization
  • Thorough understanding of charitable giving with knowledge of the San Diego philanthropic community
  • Successful track record in designing, implementing and directing development initiatives including solicitation and recognition strategies
  • Proven ability to communicate a vision that inspires philanthropy
  • Successful experience in managing and tracking prospects and donors
  • Experience in public relations, marketing and communications
  • Understanding and familiarity with environment and arts/culture issues
  • Ability to communicate with prominent individuals
  • Experience managing and working with volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Exceptional writing skills with meticulous grammar, spelling and editing skills
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office proficient and web research

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree; Certificate in Fund Raising preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
