JOB TITLE: Information Technology Manager
Full-time, exempt position Reports to CFO, Vice President Finance & Administration

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide the information technology infrastructure needed for The San Diego Foundation’s role of promoting and increasing responsible and effective philanthropy in all of our communities.

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • Customer Service will result in 95% of all feedback (both internal and external) will indicate that all technology issues are responded to within 4 hours and resolved or a plan for resolution will be presented within 24 hours.
  • TSDF staff will have confidence in approaching and communicating with IT staff on technology issues.
  • All staff will be fully trained and knowledgeable in regards to the IT systems and computer programs in order to perform their functions at the highest level of efficiency.
  • The stability of our technology infrastructure will provide for no unscheduled downtime lasting more than 2 hours.
  • The Foundation will remain on the cutting edge of technology as a result of this position formulating an annual technology plan and presenting suggestions to upper management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED

Primary duties will be to support the staff of The Foundation with all technology needs. This includes but is not exclusive to desktops, laptops, media, handheld computers/Treos, and telephone and voicemail systems. Duties may also include supporting specific tenants of our building.

CORE SUPPORT AREAS

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Be approachable by all customers, regardless of level of technical knowledge.
  • Able to understand the needs and wants of non-technical users and translate that into a system that they can use.
  • Provide easy to understand training for users on a regular basis.
  • Manage and control costs for the work of outside vendors, direct report and contractors.
  • Make recommendations to management staff on ways to improve the quality and scope of information technology services.
  • Listen to staff and follow up on recommendations from contractors and vendors on how to improve information services.

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Provide and maintain support for all IT hardware and software used by staff.
  • Work with Human Resources on the addition, moves and changes to staff.
  • Provide remote computing access for managers and remote office.
  • Maintain company Intranet Site and telephone system.
  • Maintain and manage IT vendor and contractor relationships.
  • Manage Internet Service and Website Hosting.
  • Design, implement, and test information systems disaster recovery plan on a regular basis.
  • Provide strong understanding of database concepts and provide for future direction and growth of The Foundation’s database system.
  • Provide technically assistance to others as requested, including tenants of the building.
  • Propose and manage budget for IT area.
  • Provide management with risk assessment information on a regular basis.

Data Communications Links:

  • Support and work with vendors and contractors on the T1 and basic telephone and long distance service.
  • Provide for and maintain internal wiring.

Understand and support the following Network Protocols and Services:

TCP/IP DHCP HOSTS VPN
WiFi Routing CheckPoint NG Firewall

Support the following local and network printing technologies:

HP LaserJet
Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Print Queues
PostScript and PCL Printers
Print to fax

Maintain, upgrade and provide data protection for various data servers:

Current production servers are:
Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 running OWA and ActiveSync
Microsoft SharePoint 2003
Microsoft SQL 2005
IIS 6.0
Sysbase SQL AnyWhere 8
Windows Terminal Server

Current backup technology used is:
Symantec Veritas Backup 10D
RAID 5 Array
Windows Server 2003 Shadow Copies.

Know how to use and maintain network based software tools:

Strong understanding of Active Directory

Provide and maintain support for workstations:

  • Current supported workstation platforms are:
    Windows XP Professional

    ADP’s Payroll Program
    PcAnywhere version 11
    Foundation Power Database system
    Windows Terminal Service

    Adobe Acrobat Standard and Professional version 7 and 8
    CA E-trust Antivirus Protection version 7.1 and 8
    Crescendo Interactive Planned Giving Software
    Microsoft Internet Explorer
    Crystal Reports 10

SUPERVISES
Manage and supervise Database and Intranet Manager
Manage vendors and outside contractors as needed

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum three to five years direct experience providing superior customer service to all clients/customers in the Core Support Areas: Data Communications Links; Network Protocols and Services; local and network printing technologies; data protection for various data servers; network based software tools; provide and maintain workstations; handheld computers and cell phones; remote computing access and remote office; Intranet Site; telephone and voicemail systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing an IT department , and accessing and planning growth of information technology for the entire company
  • Demonstrated success in representing an IT department with management and colleagues in other departments individually, in teams, committees or reporting
  • Demonstrated success in providing computer technical service
  • Experience in providing computer training
  • Prior personnel management experience
  • Prior experience managing Information Technology budgets
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-directed
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service skills and attitude
  • Professional attitude and demeanor

 EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Microsoft and SANs Training or certification preferred
