August 24, 2010 – Gregory Post and his family established the Amanda Post Memorial Scholarship Fund at The San Diego Foundation in honor of his daughter who died in a car crash last week.
Amanda was a recipient of the Malini E. Sathyadev Memorial Scholarship also through The
San Diego Foundation. The scholarship she received was faith-based in honor of another
young woman who passed at the early age of 15 years.
"She was the love of my life. Love of our whole family's life," says Gregory. The Cathedral
High School track star was just weeks away from heading to college at Cal Poly San Luis
Obispo.
“Losing a loved one is always difficult, but the loss of a child is the greatest pain a parent can
ever experience,” said Bob Kelly, president and CEO of The San Diego Foundation. “The
Amanda Post Scholarship Fund will honor an outstanding athlete by facilitating the goals,
aspirations and dreams of many students in the years to come. This gesture of honor by the
family speaks volumes of her character and will allow her legacy to live on.”
The Post family selected The San Diego Foundation for their trusted and established
reputation as the largest provider of scholarships with more than 150 scholarship funds
stewarded by staff. The fund is intended to honor Amanda and actualize the dreams of youth.
