The Holly Fund

Left to right: Diane Hollingsworth, Jill Hollingsworth and Roy "Holly" Hollingsworth
After managing a stand-alone private foundation for a few years, Jill decided she wanted to simplify her life meetings with attorneys, annual IRS filings and other administrative burdens seemed to take too much time without a sense of accomplishment. To continue her charitable giving in an easy and flexible way, Jill dissolved the private foundation and transferred the assets into the Holly Fund, named in honor of her father, known by nickname "Holly."
Roy Hollingsworth worked in the film industry in Hollywood for more than 40 years, thus acquiring his nickname "Holly." Originally from Alabama, Roy moved to Los Angeles and graduated from University of Southern California. After college, he enjoyed a long career as a producer and director of TV commercials. Hollywood is also where "Holly" met his wife Diane, a second generation resident of Hollywood. Upon retirement, Roy and Diane moved to La Jolla.
Jill Hollingsworth, founder of the Holly Fund, is an artist and a nature lover who is always looking for ways to use her talent and treasure for social impact.
The Brent Woodall Foundation
Mary Woodall established The Brent Woodall Foundation in memory of her son, who was killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks. Mary and her husband raised money for the fund through golf tournaments and private donations. The fund consistently supported La Jolla High School and UC Berkley, both institutions attended by Brent. After her husband passed away, Mary decided she wanted to continue the same pattern of giving, but did not want to fundraise anymore. She also wanted to put the money in a trusted place and to make her life easier. She accomplished this by transferring her foundation to The San Diego Foundation.
