Escondido Charitable Foundation Celebrates 5th Anniversary

The Escondido Charitable Foundation (ECF) commemorated five years of making a difference with an anniversary event at the new San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum. Founded in 2007 as one of the first Affiliate Foundations, the ECF has raised more than $1 million and has granted more than $456,000 to deserving nonprofits serving Escondido.

In addition to the opportunity to climb aboard the museum’s giant toy ship, learn more about the impact of past grants, and mingle with neighbors and friends, guests at the celebration had the chance to hear a panel discussion on “Giving is a Gift – The Personal Impact of Philanthropy," moderated by Past ECF Chair, Ken Lounsbery. Renowned philanthropist Bob Wilson, an Escondido native, shared his experiences of giving back to his hometown and to the diverse causes that matter to him and wife, Marion. Jack Raymond, Founding Chair of the Escondido Charitable Foundation, gave a “rah-rah!” cheer for the success of the ECF’s first five years and encouraged members to renew and guests to join to take advantage of the Live Here, Give Here Matt McLaughlin Matching Program, which will double grantmaking dollars over the next three years.

Bob Kelly, President and CEO of The San Diego Foundation, joined the speakers to share stories of donors who made big impacts on causes important to them by contributing what resources and talents they could offer, from a few hundred dollars to the deed to their home. Members of the Escondido Charitable Foundation are looking forward to the next five years and beyond.
