Pamela King’s Grant Funded Her Multicultural Appreciation and Achievers Project
Pamela King is one example of the innovative and outstanding teachers we are so pleased to fund through the San Diego Teachers’ Fund Program. Her grant enabled Pamela to grow her “We Are All Achievers” multicultural appreciation and achievers project.
The project teaches Kindergarten through First Grade students to welcome, understand, appreciate, and celebrate different cultures at Oak Park Elementary School. It addresses the need for students, parents, and staff to understand and appreciate all cultures, illustrating the fact that throughout history, people from different cultures have triumphed over obstacles to achieve their goals.
Through this grant, students increase their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills; respond to literature to ensure they can identify characters and important events; share information and ideas; and understand the value that every culture holds in shaping the American cultures we know today.
